Humanity

Our present surroundings and atmosphere make us vulnerable to sickness and ailments. Having said that, what if we suffer from a disease that makes us fragile, cause immense pain, and make us extremely stressful in the process.

Leukaemia patients require a strategically devised multi-dimensional approach rather than just medical attention or treatment because motivating such patients to look beyond their ailment on a daily basis is crucial along with other measures.

Unfortunately, for patients who belong to the underprivileged sections, even medical attention and treatment can be a big challenge, let alone adopting any different approach or measure.

Awareness about any disease in general and Leukaemia in particular, cannot be spread by interacting with patients for a day, month or via various activities. The entire process demands conscious planning along with devising a structure to track the patient’s improvement.

A rare ailment in the past, Leukaemia, now, is a common childhood malignancy. Claiming thousands of innocent lives each year, the world now is witnessing a medical crisis in the form of Leukaemia.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), an estimated 9.6 million people died of cancer in 2018.

As per statistics, around three lakh children are suffering from cancer globally.

Globally, Leukaemia accounts for 30% of all cancer diagnosed in children up to 15 years of age.

In India, various researches have observed that around fifty thousand children are going to be diagnosed with cancer every year.

According to experts, out of these 50,000 children, 25,000 may have Leukaemia.

Doctors also claim that with lots of new and improved quality treatment sources and methodologies, the survival rate has plunged to 80% in India and 90% in western parts of the world.
