Need For The Project
During carrying out socially concerned activities, it has been observed by the Trustees that underprivileged paediatric cancer patients coming †o Kolkata for treatment from different parts of West Bengal and other States face lodging problems. Further, after various OPD treatments/Chemotherapy or after discharge †he patients are sometimes advised to stay within the close proximity of the hospitals. Either they have to stay at hotels/rooms at highly unaffordable cost or they have to stay at the Hospital premises without any appropriate roof and shelter. On noticing †he suffering, Aarush Memorial Trust decided to take the initiative to construct a “Home away from Home“ for stay of such children with their parents belonging to financially weaker sections of the society. The Foundation Stone of the two storied “Home" was laid on 12.02.2023 and the construction work is scheduled to commence at Plot HPB-9, Swapnabhumi Project, Hathishala, Newtown within close proximity †o Tata Medical Center, Kolkata and Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata.
Project Description
The proposed structure will be a two storied building and will house at least 13 beds for the children and their parents. The stay at the Home will support the parents financially and also help the little sufferers to ease their pain by benefiting from a clean, healthy, homely, friendly and serene environment.
How The "home" Will Benefit The Pediatric Cancer Patients
- Free and hygiene stay for at least 13 paediatric children with their parents
- Availability of daily vehicle for hospital drop and pick-up from the "Home".
- Take care of childs necessity and provide financial support for treatment in terms of medicines, blood requirement, Chemotherapy or any other sort of investigations.
- Emergency Room for any eventuality.
- Standard Nutritionist prescribed 3 times meal.
- Regular visit of doctors and psychologist.
- Presence of Yoga teacher for physical fitness.
- Playroom with indoor games and set up for a projector for child entertainment.
Location of Land
2 Cottahs of Land already procured by Aarush Memorial Trust and is located at Mouza – Hatishala, JL No. 9, Khatian No. 3233, Dag No. 947, Police Station – K.L.C., District – South 24 Parganas, under Beonta-II Gram Panchayat in West Bengal.
The Land is located in Rajarhat, New Town which is having the locational advantage as the land in proximity to Tata Memorial Cancer Centre, Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, HCG EKO Cancer Centre & others so that the Paediatric Cancer Patients can avail of the facilities very conveniently. Further, the centre has good road connectivity, public transport facilities, shopping facilities etc.
Project Cost
Capital Cost of “Home Away From Home” Project of AMT has been estimated at Rs. 98.82 Lac.
The land for the project has already been procured in the name of Aarush Memorial Trust(AMT). For contract of Building construction, AMT has appointed Swapnabhumi Realtors Ltd. Till date AMT has incurred cost of Rs.11.34 Lac for Land & Rs.10.14 Lac towards cost of Building, totalling Rs.21.48 Lac with the support of individual donors, benefactors and well- wishers.
In order to keep “Home Away From Home” Project running, AMT will be required to incur recurring expenditure which has been estimated at Rs. 20.50 Lac. Per annum.
Quantum of Assistance
Requirement of assistance from Donors for “Home Away From Home” Project of AMT can be segregated into the following 2 parts:
- One Time assistance amounting to be a total of Rs. 77.34 Lac say Rs. 78 Lac from the donors in order to establish the facilities for commencement of “Home Away From Home” Project.
- Assistance for meeting recurring annual expenditure on “Home Away From Home” project to the tune of Rs. 20.50 Lac/annum which is required for managing the project, maintenance of various facilities installed in the project, cost of consumables & Fees payable to Doctor, Physiotherapist, Technician etc. car running expense & other miscellaneous expenses.
Project Completion Period
Keeping the above programme made in the Project in view, it is estimated that it may be possible to complete the construction of the Building within 15 months & target date for completion of Building will be September, 2024. Further 5 months time will be required to install the various Miscellaneous Fixed ./../assets in the Building.
The current project of “Home Away From Home” is a very humanitarian concept and is targeted to provide assistance to the paediatric cancer patients as well as to their family members who belong to economically weaker sector of the society, so that the beneficiaries not only would receive proper medical care whenever required but also will be living in an atmosphere where there will be care and amusement and provision of timely assistance with minimal cost as the accommodation in the Building to be constructed by AMT and some other attendant facilities to be provided to the beneficiaries will be free of cost. To achieve the above goal AMT seeking monetary assistance/donation from Individual & Corporate Sector.
